The first generation of the Xpeng P7 electric car has been produced since 2019, and its updated version was released under the index P7i . At the same time, last year the Xpeng P7+ liftback debuted , which deviated from the general line, becoming a separate model. And a direct replacement is being prepared for the main sedan – the second generation Xpeng P7. The first images were published a couple of weeks ago, but now the electric car has appeared in the certification database of the PRC and its main characteristics have become known.
The company especially emphasizes that this is not a concept car, but a production car. The sedan’s exterior is really designed in a style that is unlike any other existing model. Laconic lines, soft surfaces and sharp edges are successfully combined in one body. The lifting front butterfly doors and retractable handles have been retained, and a retractable spoiler is installed at the stern. The wheelbase has grown by 10 mm (up to 3008 mm), the car has become larger: length – 5017 mm (plus 129 mm), width – 1970 mm (plus 74 mm). Only the height has decreased by 23 mm, to 1427 mm. The buyer will be able to choose from several options for wheels with a geometric design, diameter – 20 or 21 inches. Interestingly, the lidar is not visible on the body.
The interior of the new product has not yet been shown, but the first details about the technology have appeared. The basic Xpeng P7 has a single engine with a capacity of 357 hp on the rear axle and a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. The curb weight of such an electric car is 2125 kg. The average version is equipped with the same engine, but a lithium-ion NMC battery, so the weight is lower (2090 kg). The top version has a dual-motor all-wheel drive (594 hp), an NMC battery and reinforced Brembo brakes. Such a sedan weighs 2188 kg. The maximum speed of all modifications is 230 km / h.
Judging by the completed certification process, the premiere of the second-generation Xpeng P7 sedan is just around the corner. Earlier, the company indicated that the new electric car would hit the market before the end of this year. Even the current P7 model is not cheap by Chinese standards: from 250 thousand to 290 thousand yuan (35-40 thousand dollars). The new car should be more expensive.
