Until now, the Chinese joint venture FAW-Volkswagen has been producing simplified and redesigned versions of Volkswagens under the Jetta brand. The VA3 , VS5 and even the relatively new Jetta VA7 sedan models were made with minimal effort from familiar cars of the German brand, and the VS7 crossover is an extended version of the VS5 model. But now the Jetta brand is beginning to distance itself from Volkswagens: the Jetta VS8 crossover, which does not have a global range original, has been certified in China.
The “eight” has an original body with a new design, unlike other cars of the Volkswagen concern. The headlights and taillights are also made without regard to the existing models of the company. Although in terms of size, this car is almost no different from the VS7 model: length – 4629 mm, width – 1851 mm, height – 1624 mm. The wheelbase is also preserved: 2631 mm. The wheels can have a diameter of 17 or 18 inches.
The interior has not yet been shown. And all the technology of the Jetta VS8 crossover was inherited from the VS7 model on the MQB platform. This includes a chassis with independent rear suspension, and a turbo engine 1.4 TSI of the previous generation (150 hp), and a classic six-speed automatic. For now, this is all the information, and the full premiere of the Jetta VS8 SUV is expected before the end of 2025.
