Six years ago, the American supercar Chevrolet Corvette of the eighth generation changed its classic layout to a mid-engine, which caused conflicting feelings among enthusiasts. But real buyers did not care about these feelings: in 2023, 53,785 cars were produced, which is only 22 units less than the absolute record of 1979! And this is only the third time in the entire history of the Corvette, when the production volume exceeded 50 thousand cars per year. True, already in 2024, demand went down (43 thousand cars were produced), but an answer has already been prepared for this: the updated Corvette debuted in the USA.
The exterior has not changed, only the range of body colors has been revised. Roswell green and Blade Silver have been added. It is curious that the rich Roswell color is the second shade of green in the Corvette palette after the lighter Minted Green. At the same time, Rapid Blue and Sea Wolf Gray have been excluded from the color range. Of the other external updates, only a modified wheel design is available, and for the Corvette with a targa body (this is the basic version), a roof panel with electrochromic glass is offered, which can change the degree of transparency.
The main changes took place in the interior. The supercar acquired a completely different front panel, which houses a 14-inch instrument display and a 12.7-inch media system screen with redesigned graphics. In addition, another touch screen (6.6 inches) appeared to the left of the steering wheel to control secondary functions. The transmission selector and driving mode selection buttons are now located closer to the driver, which made room for a wireless charging pad. The enlarged rotary volume knob acquired a backlight, and the climate control panel moved closer to the multimedia screen.
The massive crossbar separating the driver’s and passenger’s sections of the cabin has lost its buttons: now it’s just a handy handle for the front passenger. The cup holders on the central tunnel are no longer hidden under a lid, and in the rich trim levels they are decorated with aluminum. In addition, additional USB-C ports have appeared. An improved PDR recorder has also become available for order, which has learned to record more information about the passage of a lap, while retaining the functions of a video recorder. The proprietary Performance App has also been updated and is now able to display and save even more racing telemetry.
The only technical improvement is the modified optional ZTK package for the top version of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. It includes monstrous ten-piston Alcon brakes on the front wheels. Six-piston calipers of the same company are installed at the rear. The brake discs themselves are carbon-ceramic. In addition, the ZTK package includes a stiffer suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. The ZTK kit costs only $ 1,500, but it can only be ordered together with the aerodynamic package ZR1 Carbon Fiber Aero for $ 8,500.
The Corvette is still offered in the base Stingray version (497 hp), the charged Z06 (679 hp) and ZR1 (1079 hp) versions, and the hybrid all-wheel drive E-Ray version (664 hp). Cars with the new interior belong to the 2026 model year and will go on sale in the fall.
