The second-generation Land Rover Defender appeared in 2019 and since then has undergone minor modifications almost every year. At the same time, there has been no full-fledged restyling until now. It has not happened now either, but the JLR company has announced a new batch of updates. Including visual ones.
The changes in appearance affected primarily the lighting equipment. The headlights now have different side sections for the side lights, and the rear lights now have tinted diffusers. Fog lights are included in the basic package. The bumpers, air ducts in the front fenders and hood trims are decorated with textured inserts. The wheels now have glossy black caps. The range of body colors has been expanded to include gray Borasco and green Woolstone. Seven-spoke 22-inch gray wheels are now available for order. The list of branded accessories has also been expanded with new items.
The interior now features a larger media system screen: now 13.1 inches instead of 11.4. The analog climate control panel is still there, but the shape of the transmission selector has been slightly changed. The central tunnel now has a new sliding section, and pockets in the lower tier opening are now available to order, preventing items from falling out. The on-board electronics now feature advanced off-road cruise control and a driver fatigue monitoring system with a camera in the interior and a steering wheel position monitoring sensor.
Along with the basic SUV, the top version of the Defender Octa has also been improved . The palette of body colors has been expanded with Borasco gray and Sargasso blue. In addition to the already offered matte protective film, a white one has appeared, although it will only be available for order at the end of the year. An optional external and internal decor made of “chopped” carbon fiber is offered. A standard winch with a force of up to 4.5 tons in a carbon fiber housing is offered. And for the long version of the Defender 130, a built-in air compressor for tires can be ordered.
The range of power units is the same. In Europe, the Defender can have a turbodiesel Ingenium 3.0 “six” (200-300 hp), a hybrid system with a turbo four 2.0 and an electric motor (300 hp), as well as a gasoline supercharged V8 5.0 engine (425-525 hp). For America, the 2.0 l and 3.0 l Ingenium gasoline engines have also been retained. And at the top of the global range is the Defender Octa with a twin-turbo BMW V8 4.4 engine (635 hp and 750 Nm) and a modified chassis. The refreshed Defenders are already available for order in Europe.
