2025 Ford Mustang FX Revives Retro Fox-Body Style with Modern V8 Power

Ford has already used retro styling for Mustangs on several occasions. For example, the fifth-generation 2004 model was entirely tailored to the image and likeness of the very first Mustang from the sixties. The current seventh-generation Ford Mustang has only a few references to its early relatives, but the company has created a special edition with the aesthetics of the eighties.

The new Ford Mustang FX is made with an eye on the third-generation cars, which were produced from 1978 to 1993 and are known under the unofficial designation Fox-body (named after the Fox platform). The main reference was the combination of the blue Adriatic body color and multiple white accents: the side sections of the radiator grille, logos, nameplates, and even the rear light diffusers are made like this. The retro-style wheels are, of course, also white.

The seats are finished in a combination of leather and the checkered fabric typical of the Mustangs of the past. Moreover, such upholstery is prepared not only for the standard seats, but also for the optional Recaro buckets. The steering wheel, center console, front and door panels are decorated with stitching in silver and blue threads. The Mustang GT badge is made in the same font as the third-generation sports car. However, the most notable feature of the interior is the new virtual instrument mode, which literally repeats the analog panel of the Mustangs from the 1980s. Moreover, at night, the scales change their color from white to green, imitating the backlight.

The FX version can be ordered for coupes and convertibles in the GT Premium version, which implies the presence of a naturally aspirated V8 5.0 Coyote engine (487 hp) in conjunction with a six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic. Ford Mustang FX is already related to the next model year, and the prices for such cars have not yet been disclosed. Now the GT Premium version costs at least 51 thousand dollars, so the retro package will definitely be more expensive.
