Lyngdorf TDAI-2210: Fully Digital Network Amplifier from Denmark

The Danish audio company Lyngdorf has launched the Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 integrated amplifier, which features both analog and digital inputs along with streaming capabilities. This new model succeeds the well-received TDAI-2170. With this amplifier, Lyngdorf occupies the space between the TDAI-3400 and TDAI-1120. Additionally, the component supports functionality enhancement through optional modules.

“TDAI” refers to True Digital Amplifier Integrated. The Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 amplifier operates entirely in the digital domain up to the speaker terminals, avoiding any analog conversion that might compromise sound quality. The digital signal drives the speakers directly, while the volume control modifies the gain in the output chain. This innovative approach removes the necessity for various analog components and signal paths, which can introduce noise, crackling, crosstalk, and distortion. As a result, it guarantees superior sound quality at any volume and a faithful reproduction of music. This technology is fundamentally distinct from Class D, where the low-frequency representation of the musical signal is generated from high-frequency pulses. Notably, the “D” in “Class D” does not signify “digital”.

The Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 network integrated amplifier boasts a rated power of 105 W per channel when used with a load that has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, and 210 W for a 4-ohm load. This component is entirely digital and comes with a variety of digital inputs. The new model features a switching array that includes three optical inputs, three coaxial inputs, and a USB-C port.

Analog sources are also accommodated. The Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 includes two analog inputs and can be optionally upgraded with a module that provides three analog RCA inputs (one of which is designated for a vinyl player with an MM cartridge) and a pair of balanced XLR inputs. Additionally, there is an HDMI port available for connecting a television. An extra module can be added to incorporate two more HDMI inputs and one HDMI output.

The front panel of the Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 features a touchscreen that simplifies amplifier operation like never before. With its icon-driven interface and user-friendly tap, swipe, and touch capabilities, the screen assists users during the initial setup, facilitates exploration of all functions, enables parameter adjustments, and streamlines music streaming. All standard streaming features are pre-installed, accommodating sources from the Internet, local networks, or USB drives.

RoomPerfect is a sophisticated proprietary solution designed to tailor sound to the unique acoustic properties of a specific room. By using RoomPerfect for calibration, issues related to room acoustics, such as too much or too little bass, standing waves, or a lack of sound clarity, are resolved. The RoomPerfect system addresses these challenges in the digital realm, enabling speakers to perform at their optimal level without distortion. Additionally, the system operates entirely through a proprietary mobile application, meaning that, according to the developers, no computer, software, or specialized calibration knowledge is necessary.

The Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 Network Integrated Amplifier is set to launch in September 2025, with a recommended retail price of $3,999.
